Max Kaufman was kicked out of his home as a teen and his life has been an uphill battle ever since. From addiction and living on the streets, to recovery and putting himself through nursing school, he’s spent the last ten years rebuilding his shattered sense of self. Now he’s taken a job as a private caretaker to Edward Marsh III, the president and CEO of one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. Max soon learns Marsh’s multi-billion-dollar empire is a gold and diamond-encrusted web of secrets and lies.

The longer Max works and lives with the Marsh family, the tighter the secrets tangle around him. And his heart—that he’s worked so hard to protect—falls straight into the hands of the distant, cold, and beautiful son of a dynasty…

Silas Marsh is set to inherit the family fortune, but his father is determined his heir be the “perfect” son. Before Silas can take over the company and end its shady business practices, he must prove himself worthy…and deny his true nature.

Silas must choose: stand up to his father by being true to himself and his undeniable feelings for Max. Or pretend to be someone he is not in order to inherit everything. Even if it means sacrificing a chance at happiness and real love.

My thoughts:

Lol, I read this book in December and still haven’t managed to write a review. Laziness, I guess.

If you’ re following me for a while you know this wasn’t my first Emma Scott’s read (and definitely not last) and that I love her writing. She really knows how to write about emotions.

But I can tell you this was my first M/M read. Well, sort of. I read novellas before but never a whole novel. I don’t know why. But since my favorite author wrote it I gave it a chance.

I’m so glad I did.

Someday, Someday is a wonderfully written romance between Max, who has been burned before and now wants to live and love life fully and Silas, who was hurt in the past so badly, he can’t see through his pain.

Max saved him before it was too much. Before he would completely lose himself.

I feel like no matter what I say, I won’t say enough. I love how patient Max was, how he loved Silas’s brother unconditionally and I love Silas’s kind heart. He looked like he was made of stone on the outside but that was just his mask.

Okay, I may have said I basically loved everyone in the past paragraph but I can’t help it, it’s a beautiful story.

So if you’re like me, not really into M/M romances but a little bit curious, just a little, and don’t know with which book to start to satisfy your curiosity, this is the book to start.

I’m trying really hard to not spoil much or tell the whole story with my review so I’m gonna end the review here…

One teeny, tiny thing that bothered me was that in the end everything just falls into place. Not with them (of course they get their HEA) but with side characters. I know it’s fiction but probably not all people are that accepting, I’m guessing. But I still love the ending even though it was not what I expected.

5 stars.

Olivia Wickham could never forget the cowboy she met on a cruise five years ago. The two spent a magical few days together before she was called home for an emergency, without giving him her number. She would have gotten over Tate McConnell—it was just a few nights of paradise, after all—if it wasn’t for two little things: her twin daughters, who were born as a result of those wonderful days. Though she searched for her lost romance in vain, she never forgot his mesmerizing eyes, and the way his smile made her melt inside.

On a trip to the wilderness just before Christmas, things take a scary turn when one of her daughters is injured on a snowshoeing tour and the little family is unknowingly left behind by the guide. When Tate shows up to save them, she instantly knows who he is—the father of her children, and possibly the love of her life.

Surprised is a mild term for what Tate feels when he realizes the woman he’s been sent to rescue is Olivia. He’d searched for her over the years, her smile and laugh invading his thoughts on lonely nights. When he learns the two little girls with Olivia are his, surprise makes way for shock. Now, with a major snowstorm coming their way, Tate has to quickly get them to safety inside a cozy little cabin in the woods. Too cozy, since Tate is adjusting to being a father and trying to fight his fierce attraction to Olivia. But since they’re snowbound, there’s nothing to be done but to let his feelings thaw a bit. Or a lot, since they can’t seem to keep their hands off each other every chance they have to be alone. When reality intrudes, though, real panic sets in for Tate. He’s been alone too long to suddenly be a big family man, even if it is Christmas time.

But when Tate finds himself alone on Christmas Day, he realizes being alone is, well, lonely. He can only hope he’s not too late to create his own Christmas magic.

(okay, I must say the blurb basically says it all, it’s way too long)

My thoughts:

Read this book a while ago but still haven’t written a review, oops.

Anyway, while the book was somehow a Christmas story and the book is well written, what bothered me here was the characters. Mainly, the heroine.

I’m probably spoiling a book (but hey, the blurb tells the whole story so I can’t really spoil much, right?) but Olivia expected too much from Tate. The man learned he was a father in a day or two after they (including children) first saw each other after years and already Olivia expects a family, a husband. I can’t imagine what was she going through, raising twins all on her own for almost five years, but I think it’s illogical to expect so much after a day they reunited. If she wasn’t expecting a fantasy, this book could turn out so different. It took her almost the whole book to realize she was irrational. No kidding, he was living on his own all that time, not knowing he was a father.

The second, very important part for me, that really bothered me (even more than the heroine) was the way we are told of important moments. For example, when Tate told his parents he has twins, we are not told the emotions of that moment. Was he nervous, were they shocked when they found out, first reactions? No. Instead the author cut this moment with ”Five minutes later the grandparents…”. We literally jump from Tate signing on Skype to ten minutes later when the grandparents found out. The exact same thing happen when they told the twins he was their father. Do we see the excitement, first reaction when they realize their father is in front of them? No, we are told how one of them asked how the babies were made. The twins were without a father for all this time and yet, it’s a moment that makes it as important as describing pouring milk into a mug. This IS an important moment but the author didn’t make it one which is why the story lost its charm for me. And the last situation was when the grandparents came to visit. We don’t get to see how they reacted when they first saw their grandchildren, no, the author jump from them coming to the house to the twins already sitting on their laps. It’s the first moments that would make this story a feel-good Christmas romance about family, love, reuniting, rekindling their love, it’s the first moment that counts in a story like this. Instead, for me, this was just a mediocre, 3 stars book.

Lady chemist Penelope Mitchell took England by storm with Duke, a perfume for men that has women swooning at their feet. To prove the same aphrodisiacal potency of her upcoming version for ladies, the new perfume must cause a rake to fall in love with her in ten days. And she has just the man in mind…

Sexy pleasure-seeker Nicholas Pringle—known as “Saint Nick” for his wicked ways—wants to end the absurd cologne that has every young buck believing himself a ladies’ man. How hard can it be to charm a spinster into changing her mind? But when Penelope does the charming, this rakish scoundrel must decide between losing the war… or losing his heart.

My thoughts:

Oh, this book was so much better than the previous one!

I love how the pages turn basically themselves, I was so engrossed in the story, I couldn’t stop reading!

Nick came into the village to stop the spreading and produce of the cologne named Duke. He’s immediately smitten by the lovely chemist and can’t stop visiting her. Penelope wants to test the new cologne before it hits the market and what better than to test it on Nicholas?

Such a charming story that for a moment, I forgot this all happens in the village called Christmas! (where they celebrate Christmas all year long according to the first book)

I was very much relieved this book wasn’t so story focused on Christmas as book one. If you need a great, fast read that will make you swoon, I recommend this one!

4.5 stars.

After years of gravitating to douchebag players with no more to offer than a wildly good time and zero promises, single mom Drew has graduated to dating a real man. He’s the responsible, mature kind—willing and able. To offer her and her daughter a real future.

Then along comes Nine.

More like a ten, is her first thought when introduced to the tatted-up, foul-mouthed, unapologetic player. The guy might’ve been her kryptonite five years ago.

But she has a child to think about now.

With every new encounter she has with Nine, she begins to realize there’s so much more to him than just good looks and his bad boy image. She sees a vulnerability in him she never expected. Worse yet, he’s sending out vibes that whisper of promises he’s never made to any girl before.

Is she willing to trade in Mr. Perfect for someone who’s oneimpetuous decision away from proving that her first impression may have been heartbreakingly spot on?

My thoughts:

Elizabeth Reyes is one of my favourite authors. I have read three books from her 5th Street series and loved them all. Her stories are engaging, characters are well-liked and you can’t help but turn pages as you read. It’s almost impossible to stop reading once you start!

I have to say I didn’t read the previous books in this series (all of them are standalones though) but I wanted Nine since the moment I saw it on NetGalley.

The beginning was for me confusing. Maybe it would help if I read the two books before but since I didn’t, I had troubles understanding who is who because there were so many names. You kind of find out later on but it takes a couple pages to do so. I got a feeling like I was suddenly in a scene without so much as a proper beginning. It was like the story of the previous book was cut off and bam, the story continues in the third book with a completely different set of characters. This is how I felt.

Once you get a feel of the story, everything flows. You meet the characters, the side characters and how feelings started to mess with their heads. The MCs started as friends but slowly it turns into something more.

I love how they bickered, how they wanted to fight their attraction. It was a really fun read.

4.5-5 stars.

In the wake of a fire that decimates his racing stock, Christian Andrews, the Marquess of Amstead, struggles to keep his family’s stud farm from slipping into ruin and painstakingly rebuilds the program. When one of his prime stallions is injured, he notices his new assistant trainer has a special way with the horses. As talented as the trainer is, once he realizes he is a she…and a very beautiful, spirited she at that…he should sack her before scandal breaks. But it’s only weeks before the high stakes race he’s counting on to build back his fortune, and Flora should be by his side for the win.

Miserable under the weight of the ton’s expectations, headstrong Lady Flora Campbell laments her privileged life in London. Embracing her dream of working with racehorses, she disguises herself as a lad and slips away to learn as much as she can from England’s premiere expert, Christian Andrews, never thinking of the scandal she courts but the glory to be had.

Although she develops a tendre for the dashing marquess, she can never let on that she’s not only a woman, but the daughter of a duke…

My thoughts:

Okay, first fo all, this was a new to me historical author so I didn’t know what to expect.

Flora is a duke’s daughter who loves horses. She loves horses but her status means she isn’t really in a position to work with them so to learn more about that she applies for a job in Amstead’s stables. Disguised as a man she gets to know the trainings, the horses and also their owner, Christian.

Christian wants to rebuild the stables’ glory by winning the race with one of his prized horses. He wants to bring investors to the stables so the scandal is the last thing he needs. When he realizes one of the trainers is actually a woman, his perspective about everything changes.

Flora wants to be equal in any relationship so for Christian to think of her as a lady, a delicate lady who belongs at the balls is unacceptable. What follows is a battle of wills, a friendship but also a forbidden relationship. Flora’s full identity is for him still a mystery.

One thing I noticed is that the way Christian found out Flora is actually a woman is very similar to the book I have read on Wattpad that was also a historical romance novel and where a woman also disguised as a man.

That was the only similarity to that book, by the way.

I was surprised how quickly he discovered but at the same time I loved that their relationship first began as boss-trainer than to woman-man, friends and at last lovers. I also couldn’t believe Christian never noticed that under all those clothes, with her feminine figure, voice, hair, is hidden a woman.

While I love the story and how well written it was, my issues with this book is that it put too much focus on training and horses and not their relationship. I mean, I felt like they didn’t really have any relationship up until 50 %. I wish it put more focus on the romance part.

I have still many questions about Flora, mainly about her past and previous relationship. But since this is a little too spoilerish, I am gonna put my thoughts on Goodreads and you decide if you want to know more about them or not.

4 stars.
